Indonesia's Adaro Chairman visits China for inspection, promoting the construction of its North Kalimantan electrolytic aluminum plant

2025-07-24

Recently, Wito Krisnahadi, Chairman of Adaro Corporation in Indonesia, led a delegation to the Southwest Regional Marketing Center of China Nonferrous Metals Industry's 12th Metallurgical Construction Co., Ltd. (referred to as "12th Metallurgical") to conduct on-site research on the Guizhou Zunyi Aluminum Busbar Processing Plant and Jiangsu Lianyungang Electrolytic Cell Processing Base, with a focus on inspecting the production progress of key equipment for the project. The purpose of this inspection is to solve the difficulties in the progress of cross-border projects through on-site diagnosis, and promote the construction of the electrolytic aluminum base jointly established by Indonesia's Adaro company and Lygend Resources & Technology Group.

Wito and his team went deep into the exhibition hall, casting workshop, and processing workshop of the aluminum busbar processing plant to systematically understand equipment operation, production capacity, and the entire process of aluminum busbar production, covering key links such as raw material inspection, casting, rolling, welding, and finished product packaging; At the electrolytic cell processing base, conduct a detailed inspection of the electrolytic bottom beam, tank shell, upper structure processing and assembly workshop. Both parties held on-site research meetings to conduct in-depth exchanges on project progress, quality management, safety production, and technical requirements. The Indonesian side highly praised the project execution capability of 12th Metallurgical and provided targeted guidance. After the inspection, both parties held a symposium in the workshop meeting area. 12th Metallurgical demonstrated the entire process chain of aluminum busbar through 3D animation, focusing on showcasing the anti-corrosion coating technology developed for tropical marine climate. When Wito learned that the project team had overcome challenges such as rising raw material prices and cross-border logistics difficulties, and had completed the shipment of 13000 tons of aluminum busbars, 75 electrolytic cell shells, and 66 upper structures, he said, "The '12th Metallurgical Construction Speed' created by the 24-hour shift system of 12th Metallurgical Construction demonstrates the professional benchmark of metallurgical construction." To strengthen follow-up coordination, he requested the establishment of a real-time docking platform for 'Party A demand, Party B execution, Supervision of Manufacturing' on site to improve the efficiency of tripartite collaboration.

At present, the first batch of aluminum busbars has departed for North Kalimantan Island in Indonesia and will be used for the construction of the core conductive system of the project. This cross-border inspection not only established a new coordinate for production capacity cooperation between China and Indonesia through technological mutual trust, but also promoted the agreement between the two sides to hold monthly "cloud production line open days". An aluminum smelting benchmark project that integrates 12th Metallurgical's technical standards with Indonesia's industrial needs is moving from drawings to reality.

It is reported that the joint venture electrolytic aluminum project between Indonesia's Adaro company and Lygend Resources & Technology Group plans to produce 2 million tons of electrolytic aluminum annually. According to Adaro's previous disclosure, the first phase of the 500000 ton electrolytic aluminum project is expected to have a production capacity of about 100000 tons by 2025, and will achieve full production capacity of the first phase by October 2026.
