Xinjiang East Hope – a digital factory in the desert

In the winter of 2010, East Hope’s team visited the site in the Jundong region of the Junggar Basin, a few hundred kilometers northeast of Urumqi. Looking down from the plane, this is a colorful place, so it is called “colorful bay”, but driving an off-road vehicle into a look, this is a standard desert Gobi, serious water shortage, wind sand is very large, deserted, occasionally you can see some passing wild horses and wild donkeys.

They set up a tripod for exploration in the snow, mapped the terrain here, and drew the first brush of the blueprint of the circular economy industrial cluster in the East Hope.

In its more than 40 years of existence, East Hope had never made a loss, relying on cost control and efficiency advantages embedded in the company. But after scaling up to a certain point, East Hope encountered a new challenge: digitization.

These heavy chemical plants that look “rough, old and bulky”, to continuously improve their competitiveness, the core is to continuously improve efficiency and reduce costs: your things are better and cheaper than others, and they are competitive in the market. Around 2016, East hope to form a consensus within the company that in order to further improve efficiency and reduce costs, it must promote the digitization of factories, which set off a wave of digital transformation.

East Hope is a long-term strategic partner of Hwapeng and uses Hwapeng’s High Efficient Preheating Kneading Cooling System. Hwapeng’s digital kneader is upgraded based on traditional kneader, carbon paste production process is monitored at the aspect of kneader, production process and paste quality. Together with artificial intelligent technology, the kneader can realize self-supervision, self-diagnosis, and self-decision making. From this interface, end user can check equipment running status such as ampere, voltage, hot oil temperature, pressure and other parameters. The data acquisition box is installed at site to collect data from PLC of paste kneader and transmit the data to remote server by 4G or 5G internet and finally present the information by customers’ central control screen, computers or mobile phones.

HP-H(H)KC Series High Efficient Preheating Kneading Cooling System is mainly used in the preparation of paste in carbon industry, for the production of prebaked anode, aluminum cathode, graphite electrode, special graphite and other products. After the aggregate is heated to the specified process temperature in the preheating machine, it enters the kneading machine to complete the kneading of the dry material and the binder pitch, forming paste with good plasticity, and the paste enters the cooling machine to be cooled to the specified forming temperature.
